How To Lose Love Handles Forever

If you are serious about losing your “love handles” you have come to the right place. You will learn some basic techniques you can use in the privacy of your own home to get rid of those unattractive love handles and be more confident in your appearance. Forget what you have always been told…it is possible to lose love handles forever.

Love handles are those nasty deposits of fat that build up just above the hip bones that makes wearing low rise jeans, mid-cut t-shirts, bikinis, shorts or any summer or clingy clothing uncomfortable and not very attractive. We have always been told that losing love handles is very difficult and can only be accomplished through starving yourself and doing thousands of sit-ups. Not so!
 
Below are some basic techniques and if you follow them, you can lose love handles forever and wear whatever you want and feel comfortable.

1. You must perform some sort of cardio activity at least 3 - 5 times a week to increase your heart rate to help burn fat. If you are currently not doing any cardio exercise, you might want to start out slow by walking. You can walk around the block, around the mall, walking in place…it does not matter where, just walk! Get your heart rate going. To increase your heart rate even more, try holding a can of soup in each hand while walking. This will get your upper body going as well.

2. Work your abs - not just sit-ups and crunches. Try doing leg-lifts. Sit on the edge of a chair (hold on to the chair at first until you get used to the motion) and keeping your legs together, slowly lift your legs up as high as you can - keeping your abs flexed tight throughout the entire movement. Do 3 sets of 10 - 15 repetitions.

3. To lose weight, you must burn off more calories than you consume each day, however it’s very important to eat a well-balanced diet. Do not starve yourself. Your body needs good foods to keep your metabolism going to burn fat naturally. This is a common mistake many people make. You should be eating about 4 - 5 smaller meals each day. Most importantly, do not skip breakfast. A rule of thumb for weight loss, the AVERAGE number of calories consumed per day should be as follows: women 1400 - 1800 and men 2200 - 2700.

4. Drink plenty of fluids…especially water. Not drinking enough eater can negatively impact your weight loss efforts because dehydration can slow your metabolism by 3% (equivalent to about 45 fewer calories burned a day or about 5 lbs a year). Drinking water throughout the day is more effective than gulping a gallon at one time. Cut sodas completely out of your diet and you could lose up to 25 lbs in 1 year.

5. Monitor your fat loss progress using the skin fold (pinch an inch) test not your scale. The scale tells you your overall weight, it does not distinguish between fat and muscle. The skin fold test will all you to accurately monitor your fat percentages in the privacy of your own home. Check on a weekly basis.

6. Lastly, keep a journal of everything you do, drink and eat (EVERYTHING). You will also want to document your skin fold results. Nothing fancy, a notebook works great. This will be very helpful as you may need to tweak your routine as you reach fat loss plateaus.

Follow the steps above regularly and it is just a matter of time until those ugly love handles will be gone forever and you will be turning heads with your new look. Stay positive and do not give up!
